Timeshares: Lousy Investments, Great Rentals

Thanks to Gregory Karp and his Spending Smart column for reminding us about what great deals are available for vacation rentals.

Karp suggests you check out myresortnetwork.com and tug2.com for deals from people who aren’t using their expensive timeshares.

I would also recommend VRBO.com and homeaway.com to rent condos and homes for vacations. I list our condo in Florida and have found great tenants.

Both timeshares and rentals will save you 50 percent or more over hotels and motels and you get full kitchens, saving you on restaurant bills.

Of course you might have more hassles if there is a problem with the unit and there is usually no daily cleaning service. mywaldenu.edu
